ITS + ADS = A Winning Team

From 1st January 2008, the Educational Technology group, formerly of Academic Development and Support, will join forces with Information Technology Services, resulting in simpler choices for Swinburne staff and students who now no longer need to know the difference between the services offered by both groups. This is a positive step toward further improvement of services offered by both groups.

Over the past 12 months you would already have seen the use of the 5000 telephone service desk to log all your educational technology/AV help requests. This service will continue and further improve over time. All services previously offered by the Educational Technology group to the HEd and TAFE divisions will be integrated with other ITS support functions.

These can be summarised as follows:

• Classroom technology maintenance and support
• Learning space technology design, integration and installations
• Video and Vod/Podcast productions
• Duplication/digitising projects (DVD, CD, online, etc)
• Lectopia recordings, pod/vod casts and streaming
• Blackboard
• Opinio
• Live streaming events
• Class/conferences and presentation recordings
• Off-air recordings
• Special staging events and technology support
• Video conferences facilities and support
• Professional development on using educational technologies
• Learning resource design and development for Web or CD
• DVD design and development
• CD and print publishing support, website development for Transnational Education (TNE) programs
• Website design development and maintenance
• Creative illustration, animation and graphic design
• Online presentation support for special programs
• “Emerging technologies” workshops for faculties
