Can’t
access your Novell Home drive files from your Macintosh? Thanks to HomeBeacon
that is now a thing of the past.
It was realised that integration of Macintosh systems into the Novell network was proving problematic so a more immediate solution was required for our Mac users.
As part of a combined effort between ITS and Apple, HomeBeacon was developed for the sole purpose of enabling Mac users to access their Home drives from the Swinburne network or any virtual private network (VPN). (In the meantime however, ITS is working on an integration for Macs and users will be kept informed of developments as they come to hand).
HomeBeacon provides easy access to Mac users' Home drive and is very easy to set-up and use. Watch the video or follow these easy instructions to install HomeBeacon on your Mac or refer to the How to Guides section of the ITS website.
Before you start you will need to download HomeBeacon Application files
then to use HomeBeacon simply:
Once installed, it is simply a matter of entering your Novell username and password for access to your Home drive.
HomeBeacon can remember and store your password securely in Keychain to make access even easier.
You can use your Home drive to backup files on your Mac laptop and also share and transfer files between your Mac and PC.
If you have any question about HomeBeacon or require some assistance in completing
the installation, please contact
ITS Service Desk on 9214-5000.
