Macintosh OSX 10.4 (Tiger) Wireless Connection

  • Make sure your wireless connection is switched off
  • Select Wireless icon | Turn AirPort Off
  • Download Swinwifi files for Mac OSX
  • Enter SIMS username and password
  • Select Log In
  • Swinwifi file download begins automatically
  • swinwifi window, select swinwifi.internetconnect file
  • 802.1X window, select Configuration drop down menu | Edit Configurations
  • Enter your SIMS username and password | OK
  • Select Internet Connect menu | Quit Internet Connect
  • swinwifi window, select radius.cc.swin.edu.cer file
  • Add Certificates window, Keychain drop down menu, select X509Anchors
  • Select OK
  • Authenticate window, enter Local Administrator password
  • Select OK
  • Keychain Access window, select Show Keychains (bottom left of window)
  • Select X509Anchors from the Keychains list
  • Locate the file radius.cc.swin.edu.au and double click
  • Scroll down the radius.cc.swin.edu.au screen to the bottom and expand the Trust Settings button
  • Continue scrolling down the screen
  • Select the Extensible Authentication (EAP) drop down menu | Always Trust
  • Click the X'it button to exit the radius screen
  • Select Keychain Access menu | Quit Keychain Access
  • Exit swinwifi folder
  • Quit internet (Safari)
  • You are now returned to your desktop. Now configure swinwifi as your preferred network

  • Select System Preferences icon from Dock
  • Select Network folder
  • Highlight AirPort is turned on but is not connected to a network
  • Select Configure
  • By default, join: select Preferred Networks
  • Select the + (add) button
  • Pop up window appears, enter Network Name as swinwifi
  • Wireless Security drop down menu, select WPA2 Enterprise
  • Confirm Access to Keychain window, select Always Allow
  • Select OK
  • Network window select Apply Now button
  • Still in the Network screen, select the Proxies button
  • Scroll down Select a proxy server to configure menu and select Automatic Proxy Configuration
  • Enter Proxy Configuration File URL http://proxy.swin.edu.au/proxy.pac
  • Select Apply Now button
  • Select Show All button
  • Select System Preferences menu | Quit System Preferences
  • You are now connected! Just to make sure - select Wireless icon and check that swinwifi is ticked

To Disconnect

  • Select Wireless icon | Turn AirPort Off

To reconnect

  • Select Wireless icon | Turn AirPort On
  • To confirm you are connected to swinwifi, select Wireless icon and check that swinwifi is ticked
