Identity Management Project
The IdM Project has three major aims:
- To provide a means to remove the current critical dependencies on PORK, the Universities current authentication system.
- To implement an Identity Management solution which is consistent with the University's current and planned architecture.
- To provide a single meta directory of all users.
Once achieved, the project will deliver fewer user names and passwords for Swinburne staff and students; faster and more robust provisioning and decommissioning of system accounts; greater capacity to comply with audit requirements; and a robust framework to allow better integration of systems and data.
Objectives of the IdM Project
- To deliver automated account maintenance services.
- To enable automatic creation and deletion of user accounts for nominated systems.
- To improve internal communication services (e.g. location, mail lists, telephone directories etc.) for staff and students.
Deliverables of the IdM Project
- A document outlining how the current PORK system operates and what systems depend on it.
- A recommended Identity Management solution.
- An infrastructure environment consisting of an Oracle Internet Directory (OID) Server and an Oracle Identity Management (IdM) System which utilise the Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) environment.
- An account management service for nominated University systems.
- Appropriate training, operational, and technical documentation.
The core Identity Management System is scheduled to go live in late 2007. Integration and cut-over for nominated applications and services will occur early 2008 in line with business and academic calendars.
