Student Administration Process Improvement Project Senior management of Swinburne identified a mission to deliver an effective student management system for the administration of its core business. Building on the process models completed by the Student Administration Business Process Management Project, the Student Administration Process Improvement (SAPI) Project aimed to assist in the fulfilment of this mission, by implementing minor process improvements (Quick Wins) and identifying and validating major improvements through the development of sound business cases. The Student Administration Process Improvement (SAPI) Project was completed successfully and closed on Wednesday 31 st October 2007 . The projects major achievement was the development of four business cases that proposed a number of new standardised processes/systems, which aim to increase both quality and efficiency. The Business Cases covered the following areas: - Higher Education Result Collection
- TAFE Attendance Management
- TAFE Result Collection
- Student Management System Reporting.
The average process efficiency gain for the recommended solutions proposed within the four business cases was a commendable 42%. The above mention business cases have been submitted to the Student Management System (SMS) Project Board and are currently being reviewed for possible future development and implementation. The SAPI project also delivered quick wins around the specification of a process for the development and distribution of TAFE Pre-Printed Enrolment forms and the prevision of TAFE Timetabling Information. We thank all staff from TAFE, Higher Education, Student Operations, Swinburne International, Strategic Planning and Quality and Swinburne Research for their significant contributions to this project.
