Introduction
This Swinburne IT Project Management Methodology is based on the PRINCE2 Project Management Methodology. PRINCE, which stands for Projects in Controlled Environments, is a project management method covering the organisation, management and control of projects.
Information Technology Services (ITS) is committed to improving the way in which projects, whether small or large, are run to ensure that projects are delivered on time, meet customer expectations and are delivered within budget. In addition to this, implementing an approach that is consistent across projects, is transparent and has scope for continuous improvement. By adopting a standard Project Management Methodology, ITS believes the University has a much greater chance of running successful projects.
In this manual, PRINCE2 has been tailored to suit Swinburne's environment and different scale projects. This manual will be used as the basis for all Information Technology (IT) Projects within Swinburne that have been approved by the Information Technology Governance Committee (ITGC). Refer to the ITGC policy on the Policy and Procedures Database for further information.
