Office ButtonMS Office 2007 coming to TAFE

Commencing Semester 2 MS Office 2007 will replace Microsoft Office 2002 and become part of our standard operating environment (SOE) and will be installed on all desktops and laptops within TAFE.

The migration will be done in three stages:

Stage 1

Testing is currently underway by the Microsoft Office 2007 Test Control Group comprising fifteen users from the TAFE division. The users were chosen because of their proficiency and level of use in Microsoft Office.

Stage 2

All TAFE staff computers can expect rollout of MS Office 2007 commencing the first week of March.

Stage 3

Rollout onto all TAFE student computers will take place during the Semester 1 break.

At Swinburne, we’ve had several versions of the Microsoft Office suite and each version brought change, but some things never changed, like the look-and-feel. With Office 2007, the look and feel has changed quite significantly with one of the most notable differences being the heavy reliance on the Office Button located at the top left of the screen.

The Office 2007 suite is essentially five applications:
